As part of Hezbollah’s entry into the war between Iran, Israel, and the United States, the group released footage in March 2026 documenting alleged attacks on military bases in Israel using Iranian Paveh cruise missiles.
Beyond their propaganda value and demonstration of capability, these attacks may represent an initial real-world operational test of the system or an attempt to challenge Israeli air defense systems. The launches appear to have been conducted alongside barrages of rockets and loitering munitions and may have coincided with Iranian strikes in similar areas.
Although Hezbollah has previously employed cruise missiles, the documented use of the Paveh – a precise, latest-generation member of the Soumar family, previously used primarily by Iranian proxies in distant theaters – represents a significant escalation in the organization’s capabilities. This development reflects a broader trend of advanced Iranian weapons systems being transferred to regional proxies, with increasing levels of sophistication across successive conflicts.
